The Ignorant Wife Speaks: Week 9 Recap

Camilla Paterson

Well, well, well looks like the husband ate his blow out prediction on Thursday night. Okay, okay we didn’t win, but we put up a decent fight going toe to toe with the Eagles for the majority of the game. Honestly, it came down to player fatigue in the end. I cannot be prouder of the Texan bulls for putting up a great fight.

Let’s recap…

The boys looked snazzy in their red jerseys for the big game. They brought the pressure from the get go, stealing the lead early with the first touchdown of the game by Teagan Quitoriano (#84). With excellent plays orchestrated and completed by Davis Mills (#10) he was on point with accuracy and playing his part in pushing up the yards. (Yes, our quarter back, it’s happening!) Our defence brought equal strengths to the game keeping up pressure, forcing eras and fighting of the Eagles advances. Jalen Pitre (#5) had an incredible game, predicting a lot of the Eagles plays and putting out those potential fires, covering many loose ends. After 18 straight plays the Eagles finally slipped through tying the game rolling into the second quarter.

What an opening interception and turn over by Jaleel Johnson (#90), with Steven Nelsons (#21) sacking assist. What a great boost for the boys and they took that and many more opportunities to bury the eagles every chance, it was wonderful! Mills was finally utilising his tight ends creating some great plays, making for an exciting game. After tireless attempts the Eagles managed to steal the lead. However with an excellent throw by Mills to Chris Moore (#15) we tied up the game going into the second half!

The boys came out hard hitting and clashing helmets. Jerry Hughes (#55) repeatedly sacked the Eagles quarter back displaying strength and determination. The Eagles did steal the lead halfway through the quarter. A successful challenge by Lovie helped boost the boys momentum. I really liked that Mills was exploring new plays and options with our wide receivers and tight ends. Towards the end of the quarter we were able to slip in a field goal.

The boys kept the pressure up and held strong until as mentioned player fatigue kicked in with repeated rushing by the Eagles, allowing them to slip through with another touchdown. The Eagles turned dirty in the fourth quarter with many yellow flags being thrown. Cameron Johnston (#11) was brought on to give the boys some breathing space and recoup some yards. Again, towards the end of the quarter the Texans plays came together. They were clean and crisp; Mills even took a few runs a few himself (which was great to see him moving his feet). The Eagles proceeded to wind down the clock feeling the win coming their way. With 27 seconds remaining the entourages walked onto the field shaking hands and gave credit where it was due.

I cannot be prouder of my Bulls and how they held their own against the Eagles for the majority of the game. Well done boys. You had me standing in ovation on several occasions.
