Talk about take a dive… Let’s just rip it off like a band aid.
What a great looking stadium! It actually looked like a foosball table; obviously there is some Vegas money splashed around here and honestly, why not?
The boys looked fresh and rested after their bye week, ready to continue their run of wins. The Raiders had majority possession during the first quarter and took an early lead with a field goal. When we eventually touched the ball, we looked good, strong and easily able to push yards, however this didn’t help us get any points on the board just yet. It also didn’t help that Pierce had a huge red target on his back the entirety of the game…Time to mix up our plays boys.
Heading into the 2nd quarter Mills had much cleaner, crisp plays which incorporated a few last-minute decisions in the field of play. It was good to see him reading the action a little more closely on the go. An exciting touchdown by Chris Moore (#15) to get us in the game, stealing the lead, even if only for a few minutes. An incredible hit by Steven Nelson (#21) which looked like he folded one of the Raiders in half! Let’s just say he ain’t going to walk straight for a few days… Ouch! The raiders retaliated with (let’s face it) an easy touchdown levelling the score at half time.
Huge run by Jordan Atkins (#88) into the third quarter, which helped ignite the fire for our boys. This in turn encouraged Mills to mix up some plays once again and try some new moves even melding well with Phillip Dorsett (#4) to score a perfectly executed touchdown, allowing us once again to steal the lead.
Fourth quarter…What happened? It was unpleasant to watch to say the least. A completely different team emerged. Yes, a few mind games were played by the Raiders, calling timeouts and false starts, etc. But my gosh, we just couldn’t get a break. We threw sets, gave up easy yards and just couldn’t re-focus. Things began to heat up between both teams with a few swinging arms and rough pats. The final blow delivered by Duron Harmon (Raiders #30) with an incredible interception and massive run to score the final nail in our coffin. It was incredible to watch; just wished he was on our team.
The final score Raiders 38 – Texan Bulls 20
Even with the undeniable loss, I was very confused and had to pause the game to ask George ‘Why are random people and camera men and women walking onto the field with 37 seconds remaining?’ Huh? I get the game was done and dusted, but the players, officials and everybody else walking around clearly don’t even respect the set time for the game… At least let the players wind down the clock in the name of the professional sportsmanship.
Let’s see how the rest of my tips prevailed (cough, cough) this weekend;
Cardinals Beat Saints 42 - 34
Ravens Beat Browns 23-20 (A Win)
Panthers Beat Buccaneers 21-3
Bengals Beat Falcons 35-17 (A Win)
Cowboys Beat Lions 24-6 (A Win)
Giants Beat Jaguars 23-17 (A Win)
Commanders Beat Packers 23-21
Titans Beat Colts 19-10
Texans lost to Raiders 38-20 (No Words)
Jets Beat Broncos 16-9 (A Win)
Chiefs Beat 49ers 44-23 (A Win)
Seahawks Beat Chargers 37-23
Dolphins Beat Steelers 16-10 (A Win)
Bears Beat Patriots 33-14 (What?)
Not bad! 50/50, getting better. Again, I keep hearing, predominately from George that it was another upset in games this week…Maybe? Or perhaps he’s having as much trouble as I am picking a few wins?
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to lick my wounds for a better round next week with my Bulls set to dominate the Titans.
Keep it together.
